Rear Window
On the 23rd floor of an apartment building in downtown Santiago, Chile, where I lived, I took these photos, always from the same window, overlooking the city and the mountains on the East. I photographed this panorama over and over – when the sun shone, when night came, when the fog rolled in, or when it rained and the yellow smog was washed out of the thick air for a moment. I looked out over this city of millions, and with the changing light I saw life pass by, day after day, and wondered, where is everybody?
